Dog Breed Project - Border Collie

I loved the funny, charming attitude of this cute Border Collie and had to do him! Sketched in lightly with Ebony pencil and finished with Prismacolor color pencils.

I just finished this one off, finally. It is one for the 100 Birds Challenge. This is one challenge I am having a very difficult time getting work done for. My one year limit may not be enough, ha!

Horse Breed Project - Jenny Wren, an Appaloosa Shetland Pony

This is a graphite on 8x10 Multimedia Art Board and was drawn for the WetCanvas Horse Breed A Week Project. The project is now going every two weeks instead of weekly.

Jenny Wren was one of the 4 horses my family kept when I was a kid. She was such a character - part demon, part angel! My sisters and I learned so much about horses from this little brown appy-colored shetland pony! This drawing is not being offered for sale as it is staying in the family.

Sketchbook - Frisky Arabian

This sketch is done from a photograph by AinsleyG from Arabian Horse Art Challenge 2 on the WetCanvas Equine Art forum. I decided to try it out in ink - something I have not done in well over a year! It was done without using any pencil to layout the sketch, a bit nerve-wracking since I do like my erasers! Overall I was pleased with how it came out and plan to do some more sketches using ink.

Sketchbook - Shakin' Out A Loop

After finishing his run in a team roping practice, this rider shakes the twists out of his lariat, and, walks his big quarterhorse to cool out in preparation for his next turn up to rope. I will need to re-photograph this as this picture is reflecting light off the graphite on the right side which is why it looks lighter than the left.

Breed a Week Project - Norwegian Fjord

These Fjord horses are such distinctive-looking horses! They look like the horses of the prehistoric cave paintings, especially with thier manes cropped! I decided to do one of these in color and used prismacolor and Berol Verythin pencils. The other is in Eboney pencil. Both are in my permanent sketchbook, 4x6" in size.
